Where Did the Time Go?!

I managed not to cry at grad - but it all came out today, the last day of school. I'm gonna miss the place that I probably spent the most time in for the past 10 years, well, most time excluding home, of course.

It wasn't only the grade 8's though, the whole school was crying because our very well-loved principal, Mr. R, is leaving! :( So are a few very well-loved teachers. It was sad.

Here's some pix from grad and today:

Me, before grad.

Me with my family! (:

Receiving my diploma!

Honour Roll.

Math Award.

Academic Achievement.

Principal's Award for Student Leadership.

Me with some friends. <3

More of me with some besties! <3

Today, a group of us in the 7/8 split class, we're super close.

Saying goodbye! :(

Me, my brother and my mom with the well-loved principal I mentioned! He will be missed!

Me with my homeroom teacher, Ms. P, who's leaving this year also. :(

The End of the Beginning...

Time. Goes. Fast.

Way too fast.

What happened to going to the park for gym class and finger painting for art class?

What happened to play time and nap time and snack time?

What happened to the biggest decision being a blue or red crayon?

What happened to the last ten years of my life?

I swear, they were here a second ago.

It's twenty minutes to midnight, and I really should go to bed soon, but I can't.

I'm too busy looking for my childhood.

Tonight, I graduated from grade eight.

I swear I was just 4 years old, all excited for JK, but here I am, a graduate.

So I guess this is the end of the beginning of my life!

Wow, that was fast!

I am excited for high school though. I've never been one to turn down new challenges! ;D

Dear God,

Thank you for the past 10 years. They were amazing, I couldn't have asked for anything better. As I go to high school, I'll bring old friends with me and meet new ones. I'll bring old skills and talents with me and learn new ones. Please help me to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You through my high school years.

As you wish...

Amen

I'll post pix for you guys later this week! :)

I'm Pro-Life

I haven't ever blogged about abortion, but my mom shared this with me yesterday, and I really liked it, so I thought I'd share with you guys! :)

This is NOT a true story. It's simply a fictional story to make you think.

A young woman finds out that she is pregnant and it's only been a year since she had her first child. She does't want children so close in age, so she goes to the doctor and says that she'd like an abortion. The doctor asks the reason why, and the lady says she doesn't want to have children so close in age.
"Well then, why don't we just kill your one-year-old?" The doctor suggests, "That way, you can have a nice, healthy pregnancy without having to take care of your other child, go nine months without any children at all. You can rest, and have a new baby 9 months from now."
Horrified the woman states, "But doctor, that's murder!"
The doctor says to her, "Well, what's the difference with killing the child in your womb?"

Whoa... I Gotta Catch Up!

Haven't blogged in a week and 2 days!!! Missed it! :(

Reason I didn't blog this week? I was in NYC for my graduation trip with my class! :D It was sooo much fun.

Here's some pix and highlights:

This is the tallest roller coaster in the world, fastest in North America. And I went on it. Twice. Once in the very front, and the other in the very back. In my opinion, front's better.

What's a visit to the Big Apple without Times Square?!

The "Top of the Rock" aka the top of the Rockefeller Centre! Great view of NYC! :)

Carlo's Bake Shop, better known as the Cake Boss bakery!

Ground Zero. They're planning a huge memorial opening this September 11, the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.

The "New World Trade Centre" [IDK what it's ACTUALLY called. :P] which will be the new tallest building in North America, standing at 7476 feet tall, the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. [07-04-1876] At least, that's what I THINK the tour guide said? LOL. :P

And of course, a visit with Lady Liberty! We sailed past on a night cruise and it was a lot of fun, especially since I didn't get sea-sick like I usually do on boats! :D

So I'm back to the blogging world now! ;) Thanks for reading!

The Stanley Cup Has Been Presented. . . To The Americans. . . Again.

Okay, okay, I'm not as bitter as the title of this post suggests, but really. The last time Canada - the country who this sport belongs to - has had a team win the Stanley Cup was in 1993. I was not born then.

A Canadian NHL team has NOT won a Stanley Cup in my lifetime. Sad.

I really though this was our year.

Guess not.

I guess the President's Trophy really is jinxed... ;P

But I'm not rioting. [That was dissapointing, 'Nucks "fans." [Fans is in the quotes cuz real fans don't riot. They stick with their team 'til the very bitter end. Learn from the Leafs fans.] Rioting. How... Canadiens-fans-like. :P]

Anyways, enough with the sad stuff, even though Canada did lose out this time.... Congrats to the Boston Bruins, who played 3 game 7's to earn this championship and, I am also quite happy to see this sight:

That is Tomas Kaberle receiving the Cup from Tim Thomas. Yes, that's right. Tomas Kaberle. [I didn't recognize him in the pic either.] The dude was a Leaf 4 months ago. Woulda been nice to see him lift it in the B&W [BLUE and white, not black and white!], but all is good, and I'm happy for the guy. He deserves it, after suffering all those years as a Leaf, and now the Leafs are starting a new, er, dynasty, one filled with countless Stanley Cups and Presidents' Trophies! [So I hope.]

Anyways, both playoffs are over. Now what's there to talk about?! :O LOL, j/k, my blog will still be full don't worry. And anyways, free agency and draft day is coming up...! ;)

Guess it's back to being a Leafs fan, which is WAY more fun than cheering for these other teams. My beloved Leafs will bring 'er home to Canada for 2012, don't worry. ;)

And We Have a Champion!

2010-2011 NBA Champions: The Dallas Mavericks!!!

It was exciting, for sure. It was a very back and forth game, exchanging 12 point leads. There was even a fight... :/ Who fights in the finals? Anyways... My prediction was off by one game, but I'm okay with that... The Mavs won!!! :D Dirk struggled from the field in the first few quarters, but had 10 points in the fourth, and 21 in total, and he won Finals MVP. Jason Terry went off. He had 27 points (the most any player had all night) and he was 69% from the field. Barea had 15 points, and Jason Kidd had 8 assists.

Here's the highlights:

Go Mavs Go! :D Oh, and Mark Cuban just cracks me up. He's so hyper... :P Oh, and Jason Terry gave all the glory to God after the game again! :) Love it.

So... season's over. :( Sucks. Oh, well, now the off seasons drama comes. But I doubt there'll be as much drama as last year, when the ahem... "New Big Three" was formed. Who knows? Maybe Miami will just trade off all three of them?! LOL, doubt that! :P Hopefully though, the Raptors do something. Anything. I'm excited to see who they'll hire as coach. Maybe they should just hire me! :D LOL.

Stay tuned... The Stanley Cup gets presented on Wednesday night. Who will it be...?! "History Will Be Made." ;)

Game 6 Mini-Movie [It's pretty awesome... :)]:

Friday, June 10, 2011

This Is Gonna Be One of Those Random Ones...

So, I asked LeBron for a dollar, but he only gave me 75 cents... Apparently he doesn't have a fourth quarter.

So, that joke right there wins "Funniest Of The Week" for me this week, creds to my cousin.

Anyways, you might've missed it, so here's game 5 of the NBA Finals, and this is a pretty epic mini-movie:

Yeah. Go Mavs! (: <3

Oh, yeah, and you're gonna love this. [At least, I do.] 16 seconds worth watching. Jason Terry after the game [Bad quality, sorry guys!]:

All glory to God. LOOOOOOOVE IT! :D

Okay, switching topics. Who's still in school?! Cuz I am! I so can't believe I'm almost done though. This year sped by. I'm gonna miss it. <3

Oh! Went and saw X-Men: First Class this week with my fam. It was so good! :) [Mini-Spoiler here! Skip this paragraph if you don't want it!] For those people who say it's not X-Men without Wolverine/Hugh Jackman: Hugh gets about 5 seconds of screen time. So he's in it. So, "Hugh's not in it." isn't an excuse anymore. And it's a pretty sick movie. But I was gonna punch Professor X at the end for telling Mystique... Nevermind. Watch it and you'll get what I wanted to punch him for. [Okay, I'll tell you, but MAJOR SPOILER in these brackets. Don't say I didn't warn you. I wanted to punch him for telling her to go with Magneto. Like, I really liked her thru the movie, and was like "How does this girl turn bad?!" And then I found out it was Professor X that told her to go?!?! WHAT?! NO!!! I really was starting to like the girl I didn't like in the original movies! :(] Anyways, it was actually a really really good movie. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars if I was one of those movie critics... ;)

Anyways, have a super weekend if I don't blog this weekend! Thanks for reading! (:

Roberto Luongo, Dirk Nowitzki, And Two Series Locked At Two.

Now. This is exciting.
This is the finals!

So, let's label our series with Twitter hashtags...

#VanBos and/or #StanleyCup:
Okay... So, Vancouver, you win both at home, then go to Boston and have a breakdown. WHAT'S GOING ON?!?! Luongo. You only let in 2 goals in the first two games. The next two games, you let in 12. You're kidding me right? Luongo has to prove he's a good goalie. A Vezina Trophy goalie. He's lost in the playoffs, a lot. He needs to NOT choke. And hey, some offence from his teammates might be helpful too. 5 goals in this whole series, while Boston has 14. Not a pretty stat. I think this one will go to game seven, with Vancouver bringing it home to where the Cup belongs. :)

#NBAFinals:
I'm LOVIN' this series. By far the most entertaining in the playoffs this year. All the games are so close, like 2 or 3 point differences most of the time. Only the first game was 8 pts, but that game was closer than the score portrays it. Dallas rocks. Dirk. Is. So. Good. Winning games for his team. And the dude had like, a fever over 100 degrees the other day and still played insane. And other people are stepping up, like Mr. Shorty J.J. Barea. Oh, but Jason Terry, play some D. Please. I'm saying this one goes to 7 too. And Dallas wins, obvi.

There you have it. I'll be back to wrap up after game 6 or 7! :) Thanks for reading!

In Case You Missed It...

The Mavs pulled off one of the BEST comebacks in NBA Finals history last night. A full post on the finals will be coming in the coming week, but in case you missed it: [And hey, it's totally worth watching a second time.]

Dirk, that was insane. Miami Heat-Dallas Mavericks... We have ourselves a series, people!

Thanks for reading, and just another reminder to keep the Compassion Bloggers in your thoughts and prayers!!!

#cbph (Compassion Bloggers Philippines)

So, the Compassion Bloggers are in the Philippines! Well, they have been for a couple of days, but I've been away from the blog for what seems like forevs now! [It's only been 4 days!]

So anyways, to follow them along their life-changing journey, head over HERE! (No, seriously, GO!) You'll have to scroll down a bit to see their blogs, but they're there and they're touching. Like, tears touching.

Top 3 things that are way too touching not to share:

1. Some mothers don't name their child, play with their child, look their child in the eye in the first year because they know the chances of their child dying in that first year is high. Compassion's Child Survival Program gives these mothers hope.

2. Look at this house. You know a king sized bed? That's how much floor space is in this house. You know your bathroom? I'll bet it's as big or bigger than this house. And you thought your house was too small. Or rather, smaller that the Jonses'.

Getting into the house:

Inside the house:

3. So, I imagine you're watching those two videos horrified, going, "How do you live...?" I was too. But imagine adding water. Yeah, that's right. Imagine nine months of the year the floors of your house are a swamp. Imagine the last part of your trip home was a swim through a not-so-great-smelling "river". Imagine... actually, you know what, let me just let Kat tell you, becuase she's seen it with her own eyes. Read all about it here.

Okay, I imagine by now a few tears have fallen. Your heart is aching. "What can I do for these kids?" I'll tell you. Go to your country's Compassion website. If you're Canadian like me, head over to www.compassion.ca. If you're a friendly neighbour just south of me, head over to www.compassion.com. Compassion is also in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland and the UK. Head over and sponsor a treasure, a diamond that God created. Give them hope. Sponsor a child from the Philippines. Or, if God isn't calling you to the Philippines, sponsor a child from Haiti. Or Burkina Faso. Or Indonesia. It doesn't matter, really. Just give a child hope.

And, if you can't make the financial commitment at this point in time, consider making a donation to the Unsponsored Children's Fund or the Child Survival Program, which I told you about earlier.

And if you don't have money to give, pray. Pray for the Compassion bloggers and their work in the Philippines this week, pray for the children, pray for their parents, pray for Compassion's work, pray the the poverty cycle ends. And then, thank God for hope.
